Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about finding services, buying and selling bikes, and running your business on RideMentor.

For Riders

How does RideMentor work?

RideMentor is a directory of motorcycle services and a peer-to-peer marketplace for used bikes. Browse mechanics, instructors, storage, gear shops, and more—all searchable by location. Book directly with claimed businesses, or message sellers directly on the marketplace.

What types of services can I find?

Mechanics, storage facilities, detailing, riding instructors, gear shops, training schools, towing, and insurance. If it's something a rider needs, we're working to put it in one place.

How do I book a service?

Look for the "Claimed Business" badge. Those businesses accept bookings directly through the platform—pick a service, choose a time, and confirm. For community listings without a badge, you'll find phone, email, and website info to reach out directly.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

If you booked through the platform, cancel or reschedule from your dashboard—ideally at least 24 hours ahead. If you contacted a business directly, arrange it with them.

Are the businesses verified?

Claimed businesses have verified ownership and are bookable through the platform. Community listings are discoverable but not verified until someone claims them. Look for the badge.

How do payments work?

Payment happens directly between you and the business. We don't take a cut and we don't touch your money. Sort out payment methods and timing with the provider when you arrange the service.

I found my business listed. How do I manage it?

Create an account, find the listing, and claim it via email verification. Once verified, you get full control—update the listing, respond to customers, and accept bookings.

Marketplace

How does the marketplace work?

It's peer-to-peer. Any rider can list a used motorcycle for sale. Buyers browse, favorite bikes they like, and message sellers directly through the platform to arrange a meetup, inspection, or test ride. No dealers, no middlemen, no commission.

Is it free to list a motorcycle?

Yes. Free to list, free to browse, free to message. No listing fees, no commission, no premium tiers. We're not trying to nickel-and-dime riders selling their own bikes.

How do I contact a seller?

Sign in, open the listing, and click "Contact Seller." That starts a message thread in your inbox scoped to that specific bike. Both of you get notified when the other sends a message.

How long does a listing stay active?

Sixty days by default. You can edit, mark as sold, or remove a listing at any time from your seller dashboard. If you still have the bike after 60 days, relist it—takes 30 seconds.

What about payment and the actual handoff?

We don't handle payment. Buyer and seller meet, inspect the bike, agree on payment method, and transfer title on their own. Standard used-bike best practices apply: meet in public, inspect in daylight, verify the VIN, and do your own research on the seller.

Is there any buyer or seller protection?

RideMentor is a platform, not a party to the transaction—the same as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. We moderate listings and can remove bad actors, but the sale itself is between you and the other rider. Use your head.

For Service Providers

How do I join as a provider?

Search for your business first—it might already be listed. If it is, claim it via email verification. If not, create an account and add your business. Claimed businesses get reviewed by our team before bookings go live.

What are the requirements?

Demonstrated experience, reliable service, and a real business presence. Professional certifications are a plus but not required. Insurance is recommended for anyone taking in other people's bikes.

What does it cost?

Nothing. No subscription, no booking fees, no transaction cut. List your services, accept unlimited bookings, and keep 100% of what you charge.

How do I set pricing and availability?

All handled in your business dashboard. Set prices per service, define your weekly schedule, block out days you're unavailable, and update anything in real time.

What if I don't respond to a booking in time?

You get 48 hours to confirm, with reminder emails along the way. If you don't confirm in time, the booking auto-cancels so the customer can move on.

Can I serve customers outside my immediate area?

Yes. Set a service radius and offer mobile work within it, or do pickup and delivery if that's your model.
